The collection

Every country is already waiting in there.

Give it a spin. Each lit dot is a country far knows, with its cities, its places, its animals and its food. Yours fill in as you go.

How it works

Three things happen. You do one of them.

There is no setup, no import, no signing in. You point far at the library you already have.

  1. You let far look at your photos.

One permission prompt, and that's your part done. far scans the library on the phone. Files are never copied and never sent — it only reads the date and the location tag.

  2. It works out where you were, and when.

Every photo carrying GPS becomes a country and a date. Borders come from Natural Earth, so Hong Kong, Macao, Liechtenstein, Vatican City and San Marino all count as their own.

  3. Then you start collecting.

The globe fills in, a stamp lands in your passport. Cities and places appear inside each country waiting to be ticked off, badges unlock, and far starts suggesting what is next door that you have never been to.

What's inside

All of it is built. All of it runs on the phone.

These are screens from the app as it stands, not drawings of one.

far's My Map: a world map with visited countries in blue, wish-list countries in pale blue and countries under a travel advisory in soft red, with a legend below.
far's home screen: a plane window at sunrise above a 3D globe with visited countries in solid blue and counter bubbles over each continent.

Your world, as an object.

The globe is the home screen. Countries you have been to fill in solid; the rest stay pale. A counter rides above each continent. Spin it, pinch it, tap any country and go in.

One button flattens the whole thing into a world map — visited, wished for, and the countries with a warning on them, each in its own colour.

far's Places list: photo tiles of visited countries, each showing how many of its places are collected.
far's country page for New Zealand: a photo header, a planned trip date, a best-time-to-visit panel with the months lit up, and live weather and local time.

Every country is a page worth reading.

Open one and far tells you what it knows: the months actually worth going, the weather there right now and the local time, whether your passport needs a visa, what things cost in your own currency, what to wear where it matters — and, if something is happening there, the official advisory and any live hazard alert.

Best time to visit — February, March, April. Computed from two years of measured temperature and rainfall. Not an opinion.

The list behind it is the collecting mechanic: 238 countries and territories, each with its own cities and landmarks and its own percentage still to fill.

And the parts that keep you going.

far's profile: a plane window above the traveller's name, a title and level card, a navy passport cover, and counts of countries, cities, places and journeys.

Your world, at a glance

A title, a level, and the counts: countries, cities, places, journeys, days on the road, and the exact share of the world you have covered.

A page of far's passport: six ink stamps, one per country, each with the date of the first visit.

A passport that fills with stamps

Every country you have been to gets its own ink. Six stamps a page, and you turn the pages like a real one.

far's What's next sheet, offering to add a visited country, plan a new trip, scan your photos, or create a share clip.

One button, four ways on

Add a country by hand, plan the next trip, rescan the photo library, or cut a clip — all from the same place.

far's Share your world screen with options for a stats card, a new-country card and a story clip, showing a generated card preview.

Something worth posting

A card of your world and a 9:16 clip, both rendered on the phone, sized for stories without cropping.

Visas, money, what to wear

Set your nationality and your currency once. Every country page then says whether you need a visa, shows prices in your money, and notes where more covered clothing is expected.

Safety, live

Official travel advisories and live natural-hazard alerts — eruptions, storms, floods — on every country page and on your map. If it changes for a country on your wish list, far can tell you.

Trips you are planning

Put a date on a dream trip and far reminds you three days before and on the morning you leave. It also shows which countries you have never been to are easy to reach from where you are.

Privacy

Your travel history never leaves the phone.

This is not a policy written to be survivable in court. It is how the app is built. There is no account, no server holding your data, and nothing to leak.

  • No upload

far reads the date and GPS tag attached to your photos, on the device, and works out the countries from that. Photo files are never copied or transmitted — far only ever shows them back to you out of your own library.

  • No account

There is nothing to sign up for and no email to hand over. Your countries, trips, cities, badges, passport, wish list, nationality and profile picture sit in one file inside the app on your phone.

  • No server

We hold no copy of any of it. We have no way to see it, sell it, lose it, or be compelled to produce it. The backup goes to your own iCloud, through your Apple ID, not to us.

  • Real deletion

Settings → Delete all my data erases every trace from the device immediately. Deleting the app does the same. There is nothing left for you to ask us to remove.

What does leave the phone, honestly: anonymous requests for public information — place photos and descriptions from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, advisories from the U.S. State Department, hazard alerts from GDACS, climate and weather from Open-Meteo, exchange rates from ExchangeRate-API. Each request carries the name of the place being looked up. Never your identity, never your location history, never your photos.

Processing follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection and, where it applies, the GDPR. The full text is on the privacy page, and the same words are inside the app so you can read them offline.
