Your travels stay on your phone.

far was built so that your travel history never leaves your device. There is no account, no server holding your data, and nothing to leak.

What far reads

With your permission, far reads the date and GPS location attached to photos in your library. It uses those to work out which countries you have been to. Photo files themselves are never copied, uploaded or sent anywhere — far only ever shows them back to you from your own library.

What far stores

Your countries, trips, cities, badges, wishlist, nationality and profile picture are stored in a file inside the app on your phone. Nothing is transmitted to us. We have no way to see it.

What leaves your phone

Only anonymous requests for public information: photos and descriptions of landmarks from Wikipedia and Wikivoyage, travel advisories from the U.S. State Department, climate data from Open-Meteo, and exchange rates from Frankfurter. These requests contain the place being looked up — never your identity, your location history, or your photos.

Deleting everything

Settings → Delete all my data erases every trace from the device immediately. Deleting the app does the same. Because we never had a copy, there is nothing for you to ask us to delete.

Your rights

Because far holds no personal data on our side, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct or delete. You hold the only copy, and you can export or erase it at any time from Settings. Processing follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the GDPR.

Children

far is not directed at children and collects nothing that identifies anyone.
